this week I’m thankful for…

February 17th, 2012   |   Life

Recently I shared this TED talk about how being in a positive, thankful attitude makes our brains function 30% better. I’m taking his suggestions to heart and I’m making an intention to snap photos throughout the week of things (or moments) that I’m thankful for. Then, I intend to share them here on MML. By crafting this post weekly I’ll be able to reflect at the end of the week on all of the positive things that happened over the past seven days. By just making this first collage I realized I had already forgotten about some of the highlights and now I’ve got a little token to help me keep those positive moments fresh.

And of course, if you also try this idea for yourself, please feel free to share a link in the comment section or on the MML Facebook wall!

Beautiful! Are you on Instagram? I’d love to follow you.

  • Thanks Jenn! I actually decided to keep my Instagram as private as possible so it’s just Mr. Lively on our accounts. Since I’m so “out there” in so many other areas like MML, Jess LC, Twitter, and FB, that I wanted one space to be just for us.

However, I will be sharing these posts regularly which will be a glimpse of the photos. : )

  • This is a great idea. I’m definitely going to do this myself. Being in gratitude does make you feel happy. I’ve always been one to look on the brightside, be positive and have a good mindset. I’ve been able to encourage other people. However, the past year, I’ve slipped and while encouraging others and motivating them, I’ve let myself down and haven’t been taking care of me. Thanks to your posts, I’m turning myself around. I love encouraging and motivating others and seeing their results. I created a post yesterday about being open to what comes next. It’s what I’m doing for myself and I was encouraging others to do the same. Would love your feedback as well.
    Thank you for these posts!

  • I love this idea Jess! I think it’s so important to identify and remember why you should be thankful. Thanks for the inspiration(as always!) 🙂

  • Aww I love this (I spy something familiar up there!). What a sweet idea. I may need to incorporate being grateful into my instagramming as well 🙂 Have a happy weekend, my dear!

  • I did it last Friday on my blog based on your video 🙂
I will do it every fifteen days and loved the idea! thanks!

  • Such a wonderful idea 🙂 These snaps made me smile (and also develop a serious sweet tooth). Thanks so much for sharing, Jess. Happy weekend!

  • A wonderful idea!

  • This is such a great idea. I made a 2011 goal to post once a day about something that I am thankful for. Unfortunately I did not keep up, but it definitely kept me aware of everything I have to be thankful for!

  • This is beautiful! I read your blog last Sunday, and it has helped me to be more intentional this week, in doing things I need to do. Thanks for that! Beautiful blog

Jess, I love that your blog just radiates positivity! Thanks for looking at life through the lens of possibilities and all that can come to fruition. Even when there are challenges and downsides, so much here inspires me to make changes in my own life going forward. The pics are very nice.

  • the idea is great! i have been doing something similar, called “What I love right now”. It also fulfills the purpose of showing myself and others what great things are out there right now, things that help me enjoy every day even if they are long and full of work, worries or other things that stress me out. Lovely idea. i like the checker display. Might use this as an idea!

Thank you all so, so, so much! I appreciate all the love. : ) I’ll be back this week with another post like this as well.

  • Awesome! Love this idea. I do a similar series on my blog called “Things That Are Making Me Happy.” Often, the little things that are making me happy are usually the things I’m most thankful for at that time in my life, too. I love reading other people’s lists of happiness and gratitude as well because it really does have a similar effect as writing my own. Positivity is contagious!
