Let there be… an empty shelf.
Which leaves room for that future special someone.
Let there be… a day without orders.
Which leaves room to develop next season’s new collection.
Let there be… a night without plans.
Which leaves room for a bubble bath and a glass of something delicious.
Let there be… openness in your life.
It provides the space for new things to come.
Update: I was just told that this idea is mentioned in The Happiness Project. I didn’t know that when I wrote it, but very cool!
Happiness Project? Yes!! I’m so excited to pick which shelf of mine is empty in my new apartment!!
Oh! Is that in the book? I haven’t read it all the way through (I confess I own it but never got past the very beginning).
I loved this idea when I read The Happiness Project! Your additions speak volumes! Danielle LaPorte wrote something similar that really stuck with me about an ugly chair: http://binduwiles.com/the-law-of-the-ugly-chair-guest-post-by-danielle-laporte/
I recently used the idea of space to build my business by letting go of some tutoring students to make room for clients to come in.
Oh yeah! I remember that post, too. : )
Love your own use of the concept in your business, too!
What a beautiful reminder!
great words!
I love love this concept, and your examples are spot on. Thinking of the new things to come is always so thrilling, and having a visual for it is even better!
: )
love this so much I retweeted it!
Right now I’m finally working at an institution I about which I am passionate, but I’m not quite making ends meet. I’m going to try leaving a little open space and see what comes along!
Wonderful! Best wishes on the newness in your life!
Let there be a minute without noise. Which leaves room for your own thoughts. (From the parent of a busy teenager.)
Nice!
Very nice! Great minds. ; )
And I’m glad you enjoyed the email!
: ) I think it’s similar to others out there too. I think I found it from a book about organizing and decluttering years ago but think it is really about much more than just “stuff.”
Let there be an empty pocket in my purse! My life is stuffed with so many things, and my purse could use a breather. Maybe that space will invite more money into my purse? Or more receipts from fun places I visit?
PS, The Happiness Project is one of my favorite books.
I loved this. (and needed to read it!) Thank you so much for sharing!
