It has been a while since I’ve shared much on the design front regarding my client projects and my own home. So today I’d like to give a few updates and sneak peeks!
First, I’d like to give an update on the hotel project branding and design project: we are still awaiting city permits to begin construction on the second half of the hotel that will include the lobby.
While we are waiting to break ground, we are in one of the final rounds of logo designs. They are looking great and I cannot wait to share the new look with you once it’s complete!
I’m also helping residential clients with their in-between home as their new house is built. We’ve been selecting nursery items for their soon-to-be baby boy and their guest room.
On the home front we’ve introduced a new pattern in the living room…
Loving it compared to the (now deceased) patterned rug.
Though the old rug was great, it had seen much prettier days after years of wear and tear. Franklin chewed a hole in it a few weeks back as well. So there was that.
We also scored a new piece off – wait for it – Craigslist.
He has great lines and the upholstery is good enough to keep as-is until we have the funds to refinish him.
He’s quickly become my reading nook of choice.
(The chair is now where the black lamp is in this photo.)
Pinterest has me thinking one going two different ways with the makeover.
Bold and punchy:
Neutral with coral pillows:
Or if Mr. Lively has his way, navy and velvet:
Any favorites?
I like the idea of bold and punchy – maybe a navy linen? I’d hesitate with navy velvet with Franklin’s fur (unless Westies don’t shed). Oh, and is that a Crate and Barrel Olin Rug? If so, we are rug twins 😉
Yeah, I’m honestly not loving a strong navy and strong dark grey together…. it’s kinda masculine for my taste. We’ll see.
The rug is from Overstock, so I don’t think we have the same one, but we could be rug cousins!
Rug cousins for sure 😉
coral or navy – i love a great statement chair!
I hope I’m that bold! We shall see…
LOVING the wingback chair. I’d love to get one. I’d either keep it neutral or navy (although I actually like the darker royal blue in the pic). Velvet chairs are sexy and we all know it.
Lol, very true.
West Elm. Several months ago, not sure if they still have them.
I like your chair the best! And the coral comes in second.
Nice work ma’am!
Nice! In some spaces I would totally keep it this way, too. Currently it’s reading a bit too random for the current room. But until I change it’s great to have something that’s in pretty good shape!
I’ve pinned that navy velvet chair also…. so in love with it!
Great minds pin alike!
Navy chair, coral pillows…my wedding colors!
Nice! That would be a great combo actually…. I never thought about combining them.
I was going to say navy with coral pillows too!
Jess, I think if you’re investing in upholstery and nice fabric you want something that you can restyle, but still has a bit of personality. Navy is classic but also punchy, particularly in velvet. Also you can get the coral pillows now to do the neutral-coral thing until you recover the chair.
Lol… well, if I don’t go bold you can live vicariously in the same house.
Aw, thanks! I am digging this coral thing… just not sure if I have the balls to do it on the chair vs. pillows.
My pleasure!
Ooh; what an incredible Craigslist find! I’m way impressed. And as for upholstery…I’m gonna have to say I am all about the coral. Such a gorgeous color!
Nice! I’m kinda starting to lean that way, too… : )
I’ve been really drawn to navy lately. Weirdly, I never used to like the color, but now it’s growing on me. It’s a sophisticated neutral.
Very true about navy being a sophisticated neutral! It’s fun to hear you are being drawn to the color yourself lately, too!
I love the new rug! I’ve actually been looking for something similar – I can’t believe you found it on Craigslist! I also kind of love the navy velvet chair…
Thanks! The chair is from CL but the rug is actually from overstock.com : ).
