I know that creating and perfecting a morning routine is a hot topic these days! While mine changes throughout the year, I thought I’d share with you my latest routine that has served me well while living in Ann Arbor.

      I also start my mornings with a meditation, it makes a huge difference. And I find it important to do first thing in the morning before going on any social media or having any kind of input that brings the focus to the outer world rather then to what’s going on within myself. That way I know I can start the day off right 🙂

  2. Great question! It has depended on the situation – when I was traveling with my friend Diana at first I didn’t do the morning routine. But now that I’m on my own again I’ve picked the meditation and gratitude journal back up – the intuition writing has been taking a back seat at the moment. : )

    Loved this video! 1) Your breakfast looked yum – do you unfreeze the blueberries? How? 2) When you’re working at home, do you always wear shoes like in the video? 3) What are your go-to sneakers?

    1. 1) yes, in the microwave. 2) I do wear shoes when I work, whatever feels like the best fit for the day/outfit. 3) some old nike sneakers – the ones you see in the video I got back in Chicago. : )

    One of the best morning ritual videos I have seen. So calm and inspiring to watch Jess. I like the fact that you did not start at 5am lol ! I find the meditation in bed to be realistic and certainly will be trying the journal routine. You keep it real! Hope you are having fun in the Uk right now 🙂

    Hi Jess! Just wanted to say how thankful and grateful I am for all you share! I’m currently working on the practice of pleasure and productivity in my life, two concepts that have completely changed my thought patterns and orientation to life in the past month 🙂 Thank you so much for being such a light and an inspiration 🙂

    Also, I LOVE your vlogs! I’m excited to see someone else getting rid of the labels in their life. I also was inspired by KonMari to remove that distraction; What I’ve been doing is removing the labels completely and replacing with sharpie-labeled gold washi tape; it makes even eye drops look nice! Also I’ve been buying glass bottles and putting products like rose spray and witch hazel in them — it really does create more calm in my life 🙂 So just wanted to share that idea 🙂 <3

    Also … I've been making soy wax candles for over a year for a small business and was SO excited about the idea using flower petals!! Dried lavender and rose petals worked beautifully!

  11. Hi Jess! Thanks for the run-down on your morning routine. It is something I have been working on for some time. I started out this morning looking at the sequence in which I do my routine and realized that things work better when I start with meditation rather than ending with it. (I don’t think I’ll be using the make-up tips 😉 ).

    1. I agree! I haven’t tried evening medtiations, but I do know some people really love it, too. But for me, I know that the AM one makes a big difference. : )

    Love your house! It’s gorgeous! Does it always look so neat and tidy? What are your tricks? Enjoy your trip!

    1. Thank you! It is generally pretty tidy, I think part of it comes from doing a lot of exfoliating of stuff that I don’t need, use, or love, so that there aren’t too many things that would be laying around without a home. Other than that, I find that I just feel better in my space when things visually look nice, so I just kind of keep putting things back where they belong, when possible. : )

  14. Aw, thank you! I’ll keep that in mind. I’m more likely to speak about those sorts of things in the monthly favorites podcasts, so you might want to listen to those when they come out each month. : )
