Because I’m always thinking intentionally, I generally plan things out, buy what I know I’m going to love, and stay pretty safe with most decisions when it comes to beauty. But two weeks ago I took the plunge and did two things that pushed me out of my comfort zone.
- I bought a furry vest at Urban Outfitters.
- And I got my hair cut and colored by Salon Sanjoy (they have a blog, too) and Nick Arrojo (from What Not to Wear) without telling them what to do [they had invited me to the salon for this awesome treat].
And the best part is that by stepping outside my usual intentions, I grew a little.
I love the the new, darker hair color and the layered cut that Nick, Sanjoy, and the salon team picked for me (I never would have thought to go darker). And I am so happy that I trusted them to work their magic. I’d definitely recommend trying them out if you are looking for a great cut and color in Chicago.
And my furry vest… it’s awesome. I had always admired the people that wore them, but I was scared that if I got one myself I would feel too silly or tire of it easily. I also thought that Mr. Lively would hate it.
And at first I did feel a little silly and Mr. Lively wasn’t the biggest fan right off the bat. But we both grew to really like it and now I’m so happy to have taken the plunge.
Sometimes you gotta surprise yourself and challenge the limitations you put on “who you are.”
