the mml bookshelf

It’s finally here! I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to think of such a useful tool for MML. When I talk to people about how they can design a life with intention, I immediately recommend a few good books or blogs to read to get the ball rolling. More often than not, that book list starts with The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (surprise, surprise).

But the truth is, that’s just the first book. Several other authors have made a lasting impression on my “design a life with intention” philosophy. And so, I’ve finally made a page for those books to be easily referenced. Take a look at the new MML Bookshelf (in the navbar above) to see the top six MML related books. I’ll be adding to this list – and eventually expanding to include influential bloggers as well.

(PS– you’ll also notice the DIY-DYL Page is now up too!)

The Seven Habits… is one of the best books I’ve ever read. It totally changed the way I did things and I’m thrilled this is the first book on the list. It’s one of the few books I’m always quick to recommend to people — I even suggested to my two classes of college freshmen that they read it too. And I feel like I learn (or perhaps really integrate) something new every time I read it.

I agree so much, Brandi! It changed my life and I feel like a broken record when I mention it on MML so often, but it literally changed the course of my life! I’m glad you are able to recommend it to your college freshman classes- I had my brother read it when he was a college freshman too and he got so much out of it. I try to re-read it myself at least once a year myself. Such a transformative book :).

Happy to have another 7 Habits friend,
    Jess!

  3. Hi there, this is my first time commenting here. I’ve followed MML for a while & I love it. Anyhow, I wanted to tell you about a really great book that I actually bought because I was inspired by a post on MML.

A few months ago I was having a really bad day/in a pretty low state of mind overall. I was browsing through my blog list & I saw one of your posts on intention. It instantly inspired me & so I decided to go to the bookstore & check out some self-help books on finding passion and motivation. This one book in particular, “The Power of Intention” by Wayne Dyer stood out to me. I didn’t know why at the time but later realized it was because of the word ‘intention’ that I had read about earlier in the day on your blog.

So I bought the book & needless to say, it’s one of those life changing, attitude altering books. Since I read it I’ve totally shifted my thinking & am on a new path of living with positive intention. I just thought I’d share that with you since it was your post on MML that ultimately inspired me to buy the book! Anyhow, it’s a great read (even though the cover is a little cheesy) & from your blog content I think you’d enjoy it!

I love 7 Habits…it’s so useful and something I need to read again (I read it over 3 years ago when I was in a way different place in my life).

I also like How to Win Friends and Influence People. It is a classic and has a lot of time tested, common sense advice in it.
