whatever is exposed to the light becomes light

WhateverIsExposedToTheLightBecomesLightRecently, I’ve been struggling with a difficult friendship situation. And while part of me wanted to just separate without any real resolution for a while, I knew that wasn’t the most True or powerful way to handle the situation.

Though it can feel scary, it is far better to take the advice of St. Paul, which I discovered in The Power of Now.

Instead of deciding to remove myself without full explanation, it was better to unveil the my fears and egoic motivations plainly.

Now that they are shared, I no longer have anything to hide, protect, or project.

The shadows have disappeared.

And you know what? I also feel a whole lot lighter mentally and spiritually.

I so needed this today. I received a very hurtful email from a family member over the weekend attacking my character and choices. My first instinct was to ignore it and limit activity with the person. But after reading this, l think I’d like to live lighter as well. Thanks, Jess!

    1. I’m so sorry to hear about that email. However, I am happy to know that this quote and my situation have helped you to find a “lighter” way to handle it as well!

I always think about how much more pain I’m putting myself in over the long haul. All the thinking, and rethinking, and doubting, and then making that eventual conversation even harder. Or let the “what if I run into them” anxiety influence any choices. Facing the situation…after a deep thoughtful breath…may be hard in the moment but saves you so much of you mind space, and daily peace in the long run, not to mention the squeeze stomach.

I have experienced something so similar. I felt myself pulling away from a friend, because I thought she had a qualm with me. My hubby encouraged me to just share my feelings and it turns out she had some health situation going on behind the scenes that was taking all of her time, energy and focus. Once we both shared our feelings and shed light on the situation our relationship became stronger than ever. Now I keep reminding myself to leave nothing unsaid.

    1. That is such a great story! I love how you took that extra step and so much that was going on behind the scenes came to light. : )

(Hah. Just noticed the pun there.)

And yes, leave nothing unsaid is powerful if done with the right ego-less intention.
